Named after the county where the first English settlers came, Suffolk County is a bustling community on Long Island in New York. Suffolk is the largest of the four Long Island counties compared with Kings, Queens, and Nassau.

Suffolk County is the home of the Fire Island Lighthouse, a very important landmark for many trans-Atlantic ships coming into NY Harbor. For many immigrants, the Fire Island Light was their first sight of land upon arrival in America. Suffolk County has the most lighthouses of any other US County with fifteen of twenty-six lighthouses still standing.
